TRAI to hold open house on Community Radio

Following the release of a consultation paper on issues related to Community Radio, TRAI has now decided to hold an open house discussion to further deliberate on matters related to licensing, spectrum fee etc.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to hold an open house discussion on “issues related to Community Radio Stations” on 3rd July 2014 in New Delhi.

The first open house discussion will be at the Conference Room of TRAI headquarters in New Delhi. The address of TRAI headquarter is Mahanagar Doorsanchar Bhawan, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg (Old Minto Road),Next to Zakir Hussain college, New Delhi-110002.

Those who are interested in participating in the open house discussion are required to register either by sending an email to vk.agarwal@trai.gov.in or on phone (011-23236036) between 10.30 am and 5.00 pm on or before 1 July 2014.

Earlier, TRAI had issued a consultation paper inviting comments from the Community Radio stakeholders on issues like permission renewal, spectrum fee, relocation of the station and role of the medium in disasters. This consultation paper of TRAI can be viewed here.
